Jewish Perspective on Tithing
Deuteronomy 14:22-23; Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. 23And thou shalt eat before Yahuweh thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear Yahuweh thy God always.
26-29And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before Yahuweh thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,  27And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee. 28At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: 29And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Yahuweh thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
The first tithe is to the Levites; i.e. church, teachers, the spiritual. The second is to our physical needs, which is to be eaten by the donor. The third is for the promotion of the welfare to our fellow man fulfilling the Shama.
The law permitted the land owner to not tithe if he brought in his harvest in secret. He did not have to tithe that portion. Yet he did not enjoy his harvest. That’s why that generation longed for the times of tithing land owners. All the people were in turn than blessed.
The mitzvoth (performing of the law)was a blessing to the land and the people when they stopped tithing or circumvented tithing by legal means, (one way not to tithe was that product that was for sell was not tithed)they would get around the law but God stopped the blessing and increase.
Jews consider any other Jew as their brother, the Father being Yahuweh, so any needy brother applying to you as such already had a letter of introduction from God Almighty. All Jews no matter their differences are charitable to one another. The duty and reverence introduced by tithing is carried further by the releasing of debts.
“Because of the trust which the Law thus places in him, the debtor, instead of feeling weighed down by the burden of his obligation, feels morally uplifted and will make it a matter of his personnel honor to repay his debt, even though this repayment is no longer his obligation under the law- but is left to his own free will. The implications of the term teach creditors and debtors alike what is expected of them, and it is God, the Father of them all, Who wishes to see them behave accordingly, as His children, all of them brothers, in the household of His sovereignty.” The Pentateuch

Deuteronomy 26:12-19 When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled; 13Then thou shalt say before Yahuweh thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them: 14I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice of Yahuweh my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me. 15Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
16This day Yahuweh thy God hath commanded thee to do these statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and with all thy soul. 17Thou hast avouched Yahuweh this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to hearken unto his voice: 18And Yahuweh hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments; 19And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto Yahuweh thy God, as he hath spoken.
We know the promises of Yahuweh for tithing, but He is teaching us the precept of the Fear of Yahuweh as well as mercy and love of our neighbors. These teachings have great purpose even more so today with the violence lawlessness and lack of love and honor to Yahuweh’s name. We must stand and trust the word, learn these precepts of love. Not be hardened by society, the secular world and even denominationalism. The things of His word are eternal, they must be observed out of love from the heart.
Proverbs 3:9 Honor Yahuweh with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase:
Do you honor God!
Shama Israel, Yahuweh Elohaynu Yahuweh Echad! Mark 12:29

Father may love and honor be in our hearts for You and Your people. Let us bring our first and best before You and bless us according to Your word. We do these things according to faith and Shama. Holy is our first fruits, blessings and mercies to your people in the name of Yahushua the Messiah!
